Euro-Spec Veloster Turbo Heading To Geneva Motor Show
Hyundai debuted the Veloster Turbo at the Detroit Auto Show, and now for the Geneva, company has planned to debut the Euro-spec Veloster Turbo. Engine-wise, the European Veloster Turbo gets the same Hyundai’s new 1.6-liter T-GDI four-cylinder engine with high-compression and direct-injection. Though engine is same, ror Europe, this engine will produce 183-hp and torque of 199.1 lb-ft, down from N.A. version producing 201-horsepower and 195 lb-ft.
“UK drivers tend to prefer more torque from a lower engine speed, so our European engineers have specified a set-up that still provides a substantial increase in power – up from 140ps to 186ps – while also delivering the desired low-end torque. The resulting package is very competitive against the performance of competitors such as VW Scirocco and Vauxhall Astra,” says Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor UK. With manual transmission, it can do 0-60 mph in 8.7 seconds. Turbo also comes with new front grille and rear spoiler, restyled front and rear bumpers and foglights etc.
